7 ways to help APA! Thrift support No-Kill Austin

Austin Pets Alive! Turns 70 and 7 Years of No-Kill ATX!

September marks several landmarks for the entire APA! community. We celebrate APA!'s 70th birthday (…in pet years!) and Austin's 7th anniversary of achieving No-Kill.

Throughout the whole month of September, we’re celebrating 10 “human years” of APA! as an animal rescue organization – and the over 60,000 lives saved since we began directly bringing shelter animals into our care in 2008.

In the spirit of 7, here is a list of 7 ways you can continue supporting APA! Thrift and help Austin maintain a No-Kill community for the next 7 years!

1. Thrift

In need of a new wardrobe? How about a new lamp? Or maybe a vintage one-of-kind knick knack that you will have to tell us what it is? Thrifting is the thrill of the hunt and our stock is always changing so don't forget to keep us in mind on your next shopping spree. 100% of our profit supports Austin Pets Alive!

2. Volunteer

The more hands we have, the more donations we can sort. That leads to a cleaner store and more sales! Check out our volunteer page to learn more and sign up.

3. Clean Out Your Closet

Our inventory is all donation based. Help us help you by bringing your gently used, unwanted items out of the dust bunnies and into a new loving home. And it benefits the homeless pets of Austin. What's not to love?

Also we welcome corporate donations! If you own or know someone who owns a small business and needs to clean out backstock, consider bringing it to APA Thrift! It's a tax write off for you and inventory for us.

4. Share Your Finds On Social

Don't be shy... get out your selfie stick and sport your cherished Thrift finds using #apathrift. While it may seem silly, this helps boost local awareness of our store and brings people in. Another win for the animals!

5. Flyer The Town

At our registers, we have flyers for both locations, donation information, fostering and upcoming APA! events. The next time you're in, grab a handful and distribute them onto flyer boards, coffee shop bulletins, the hand out table at your gym or co-work spot, etc. Help spread the word and you may be the inspiration behind our next purchase, volunteer or even an adoption!

6. Attend Thrift Events

We are working hard on bringing fun experiences to your next Thrift trip. Stay tuned through our Facebook page, our event calendar or our do512 pages (North / South) for upcoming events. Many of our events are partnered with pawsome discounts you won't want to miss!

7. Host An Event

We love bringing activities to our customers and helping out locals! If you can provide a fun service, class or experience, let us know! It's a great way to help people discover us and our mission. Plus, if it can be dog-friendly, we can invite fosters along so they can mingle with potential adopters!
